Sustainability
- Sustainability means the endurance of systems and processes. The organising principle for sustainability is sustainable development. Our extension group also looked at a picture which was a stool. The meaning of this picture was what held up sustainability which were economy, society, and the environment. Since the extension group were learning about sustainability we were given the opportunity to watch movies from the site outlook for someday. I was able to watch a variety of movies but the one that really stood out for me was If life was like the web by Angus Slade. I really enjoyed this movie because it has humour and there is a good lesson behind it. The problem was people were using social media to interact instead of talking in person and that some things should stay on the internet. The solution was if you don not have anything to say to their faces don't say anything at all.

Kawau island wildlife
I think kids that travel to Kawau island would love the wildlife and it is a great tourist attraction. I think they would love the Wallaby because they are super fast and it have quick senses of sound and vision. But don’t you think it would be cool to see a Wallaby box that will be cool. Anyway the views and the camp instructors it couldn't get any better.

Kawau wildlife
This a presentation about the wildlife on Kawau island. How many other species can you find on Kawau island??
An unforgetable event
As the wind furiously blew through my hair I could not help but notice a dolphins fin glide through the deep blue water. The year 6 crew examined the deep blue sea for dolphins, even though we were just able to see the fin it was still a fun experience. This was a fun thing to do before we arrived at the most spectacular camp ever which was called Camp Bentzon.
As the ferry ride was coming to the end Mr.Sommerville commanded that we done the haka as it was a tradition. Our leaders for this special event were Jalen and Johnlee. Even though you weren’t able to hear the words of the haka clearly you would still be able to see the passion on our faces.
The task’s that we able to do at Camp Bentzon were quite amazing, but my favourite task had to be sailing. It felt like I was gliding on water, it was truly the greatest event that I have done . I really think the year 5’s would like this event.
I love the water and maybe that is why I like kayaking and the water events. Not only did we go further from the camp’s shore but were able to see stingrays in person. I would usually find stingrays in an aquarium but to see visually in person was great!!
Overall I think this could have been the best camp of my primary year. I think this was a great experience for myself and the rest of the years six’s. I think the year five’s would enjoy this camp. The only downside is they would have to do the run. But apart from that the year 5’s would have the best time. Some of the things they might like are the views, the sport, and the teachers.

Hokulea
Food glorious food. Isn't gnawing on a chicken bone WONDERFUL!!! Well have ever thought of this, Chicken bones could be used to find out what year the Polynesians travelled to South America.
Scientists have always wondered whether the South Americans traveled to Polynesia or was it the other way round. To find this out they would need specific detail. And some people may not believe me I say this but to find out this they use chicken bones. Radiocarbon dating of the chicken bones were pre columbian

How to be a good friend
Throughout the years friends have come and gone. But people may not know what friends are and to have friends are very important. Friends are important because when you are down who will lift you back up and push you even harder. Friends may have different qualities and personalities that you may like or may not like, but I guess that is life. A friend is a person that is loyal, loving, and is most definitely kind, either to you or friends around you.
To be a good friend you need to motivate people, encourage them. But sometimes they can become more than just friends they can become apart of the family. To be a part of the family would be an honour. But one of the things that our principal Mr.Burt told us was that people could get jealous and try to drag you down.
But there's a downside to being a friend you could get caught in mayhem they may affect your friendship. But hopefully someone will be the bigger person and apologise. And sometimes their are people that always think their right. but I guess that’s what happens.
To be a good friend is crucial it could help build stronger relationships with other people. But there's a saying that I like to remember and it is “ friendship is perfected until it is shared.” Which means friendship is not likely to grow unless you share it. So you share the friendship you have to other people to grow the friendship and make and meet more friends.
I have come to conclude even though there’s a downside to having a friendship doesn’t mean you give up straight away it means you keep on trying until you can know longer push. But even though this friendship you have with a friend may not work maybe someone that you never thought possible would like to be a friend with you.

Being fit
Did you know your body is an amazing machine? It just needs to be used everyday to keep it working well.
Exercise keeps your body strong and fit. Fitness means having the energy to work, play, and do all the things you want to do easily. Your body can not store fitness,so you need to exercise regularly to stay fit.
Exercise makes you feel and look better. It keeps your body a healthy weight, it helps you relax, and sleep better. And when you exercise your body produces chemicals called endorphins, which go to your brain and make you feel good.
Exercise for strength makes your muscles stronger. So you can work different parts of your body, with out feeling weak. Exercise for stamina makes your heart and lungs stronger, and helps blood flow easily around your body. Stamina is the ability to exercise for longer without getting tired or out of breath.
So you need to move it!

My explanation writing capitals
Do you know what capitals are? Well capitals are upper case letters, which mean they are bigger than regular letters. Capital letters are different to normal letters because capital letters are different shaped. Isn't that a bit weird. Couldn't they be the same shape as lower case letters, for example: qQ. these two Q’s are very different.
Capitals are used in many ways. They are used for naming geographical places, geographical places are either places in the world or places of cities in a country. For example I live in Auckland, New Zealand
In year 2 they would have told you that the only place you could put a capital letter was at the beginning of the sentence and after a full stop. But thats not all you also put a capital letter after a exclamation mark, a question mark, and when a new character speaks. For example: “I would like some crab sticks” “I am so sorry we are out of crab sticks.
Not only do you use capitals after exclamation and question marks. You can use them for titles. Even Aucklands most prized possessions or icons start with capital letters. For example: The Sky Tower has a wonderful view.
There's one occasion that you could use it which is for dates. That means you could use it for the months of the years or the days of the week. For example: Today is Wednesday of October.
As you can see capitals are quite vital. You would need to use them the right way. The reason is because your audience needs to understand your message, and understands what you are saying.

Bad ending
Fog covered the grass like a thick blanket. And owls hoot like an annoying alarm clock. Their it was a abandoned house, I have heard many stories about this house. People say there's still someone living in that house. But how could you the wood of this darked coloured house was part gone and this house was unstable. But there's only one way to find out which is go in.My name is Zak Hemmingwell and this is an adventure of mine.
But I wasn't going alone I had to take a right hand man and his name is Franklin wart himmer . Although his last name may sound disgusting he is good at bumping off, and when I say that I really mean it because when he runs he is like an unstoppable force. But there's a downside he does seem to weigh about 200 kgs. And no offense but he may break the house.
But I had no other choice it was either him or Michael Harrow. And trust me when I say this he is a nightmare, because he picks his nose, he smells like feet, and he goes unconscious when he is scared. Wait that could be better than crushing the house down I guess.
Maybe you could help me pick either Michael or Franklin. Please help me decide. Maybe you could vote. If you vote Franklin comment in the comment box and comment the number 1357,or if you decide Michael vote the number 2468.
For the viewers that had red this story this is not the finished product. This is a quick story that I have whipped up. There will be a second copy which will be even better. And if you do like this story make sure to make a comment and maybe I could make a series of Zak's adventures. Thank you for reading.

Can You be a Future focused learner Newspaper article.
W.A.L.T: Use the structure of newspaper articles to write news reports
Can you Be Future focused learner?
Louis
Point England
Last Friday Mr.Burt the Point England principal asked if his students could be future focused learners, and the response was, “Yes.”
Para:1 What a Future focused learner is
Some people may be asking what is a future focused learner well some things that Mr. Burt thinks, that a future focused learner is that you are able to be a person who is preparing themselves for an exciting world, and that you are a person who takes the opportunities given to them.
Para 2: How you can become a future focused learner
If you become a future focused learner it could impact your future that is why I am asking a teacher Mrs.Nua, the head of the senior school thinks,“ You can become a future focussed learner by managing yourself well in the class and completing tasks to the highest standard that you are capable of.” For kids this mean’s if you do not manage yourself properly and spent your time looking after someone else your not going to go anywhere.
Para 3: What they can accomplish
A future focused learner can accomplish many things. But one of the key focuses are to concentrate, and be determined. Mrs. Nua also said “ I think a future focussed learner can accomplish anything that they put their mind to, this may mean that they need to communicate with the right people to help them to make things happen.”
Para 4: The next Korero
The next step is that Mr.Burt has to come up with a new korero. This leaves the Point England children wandering what the next one will be.

Storyline Festival
Some people may different opinions of who their favourite authors are. Well the reason I am saying this is because the Extension group had the opportunity to visit the Vodafone event centre, and were able meet some authors such as Catherine Mayo, Jill Macgregor, Paula Green, and Juliette Mclver. We got to meet them at the Storyline's festival.
My favourite author had to be Catherine Mayo. Because she clearly explained what her books were about, she also used the projector which was a relief, and that her book interested me, especially the book that she wrote the Bow. This book was based on ancient Greece.
If were to present one of my Book's the resource that could help understand the book would the Projector because it would make your message clear and also would pass on the experience that you had.
One other author that I would have preferred to listen to was..... Paula Green. I think this because she was enthusiastic when she presented. One other reason that I liked Paula Green was because she asked the crowd to join in with the experience.

Newspaper article about the new uniform.
WALT: use the structure of newspaper articles to write my own article.
What’s cool at Pt England school?
Pt England - Louis
The Point England senior school, are not just cutting edge with their work, they are also leading fashion with their jackets.
The intermediate kids sport black zipper jackets with a read line that runs across the sleeves which also the school logo embossed on the jacket. But the seniors also have an optional choice which is whether they want to wear a hat.
The seniors at Pt England school think that there uniform is amazing. Ms Flavell the clothing administrator says “It just so that you can distinguish the senior children from everybody else.”
But all this may seem exciting but also expensive. The jackets are expensive they are $55, and some girls may have trouble buying their jackets because they also pay for there culottes which are $56 and $10 extra dollars for their hats which comes to a total $121 . But on the other hand boys only pay $65 for the jacket and there hats.

Let the games begin
Finally, the Commonwealth games have begun, the crowd roared like fierce lion’s as response to the dancers dancing enthusiastically. My perspective is the opening ceremony was fatal horror with corny music, and weird dance moves, no child would ever dare to talk about this event again. For this was the perfect nightmare.
But the Commonwealth games are not all horrific events, there is one specific event that will blow your mind, it is called Rugby. Some people may not know the famous history of rugby or who invented the games, but you will be astounded to know the New Zealand rugby sevens team are going to the Commonwealth games.
Rugby seven’s was invented in Melrose in a small town in Scotland. This games is a shortened version game of rugby union. There are seven players in this game, and you play for 15 minutes, wait what 15 minutes I can’t even run 10 minutes. Anyway when your score a try it is worth 5 points and a conversion is worth 2 points.
Some people may have a favourite sport that they love well the one sport that I think is the best is weight lifting. I think this is one of the most important sport because it just rely on the physicality of the competitor but you also have to trained mentally, I don’t mean they are mental I mean that they concentrate on the task ahead.
Overall I think the Commonwealth games could be improved,Like they could have cancelled the opening ceremony, but apart from that I think this could be one of the best Commonwealth games that has ever existed.

Commonwealth games research and questions
What is Commonwealth? :
Commonwealth is when countries that were ruled by Britain came together and agreed that there will be peace, that people will treat each other fairly, and they also agreed to make the Queen a symbol of the Commonwealth. Some countries are not in the Commonwealth because they were not looked after or ruled by Britain, or one other reason is because they were suspended which also means if one country broke the agreement they would be suspended, they would call this a dissolved members.
What countries are apart of this? :
many countries are in the Commonwealth like Africa, Asia,Caribbean, Europe, and Oceania.
Where in the world are these countries? :
Well you could find the Caribbean in the region off the gulf of Mexico.
or Oceania is located in the region made up of 1000 countries including Australia.
Also Europe would be located in Northern hemisphere.
Asia could be found in and around China.
or Oceania is located in the region made up of 1000 countries including Australia.
Also Europe would be located in Northern hemisphere.
Asia could be found in and around China.
What do these countries have in Common?
I think the one thing these countries have in common is they all volunteered to be apart of the Commonwealth republic.
6 Interesting facts:
Over half of the people that live in the Commonwealth is under 25 years of age, and that is because Africa is full of people that are under 25 years of age.
Some people may refer the Commonwealth games the “friendly games” that is because the competition is about the individual men and women and not about what countries they are from.
The first games were held in 1930 in Hamilton,Canada which is 84 years ago.
Over 30% of the world’s population live in the Commonwealth thats over 2 billion adults and children.
The secretary of the Commonwealth games Kamalesh sharma, having previously served as the High commissioner for India in London.
Did you know the 1942 and the 1946 Commonwealth games had been canceled due to world war II

My dreams.
My dreams are that you get to drift through the air, levitate slowly, when you turn it gives you butterflies, and when you are inside you get to mash buttons. That's right I would like to be pilot when I am older, but if that doesn't work I might become a NRL player, and the reason I like to play that type of sport is because the atmosphere, and because I like to meet the other player's.
Without my family I would not be where I am now. I am glad I have my family, they would support me and thats all a child needs, Anyway the NRL has been a big deal in my life, my family has played league before, like my Dad he could of been in the NRL so its a big thing to be play ARL which is a mod of the real thing, but the point is that since my parents played league it has been past on so it's like I am following my parent's foot print's.
I have come to conclude that I am fortunate to have what I have,
I hope I never grow up and never move out, but if I don't my Dad will get the big boot of his and it won't be nice.

Ice challenge #2
I can't believe it my Mum nominated my brother Codee to do the Ice challenge, I knew this was going to be good, and plus my brother's daughter and also my niece Bailey was able to see her dad scream. Hopefully Codee would not rethink about doing this challenge after all it would give you brain freeze.
Trying not to think about this my Brother slowly crept to the chair where the fatal Ice challenge was about to take part. My Mum stood excitedly behind the camera filming every moment of this. Anxiously my brother took a breath and finally he introduced him self, and then he nominated five nominees. Then once he had finished that he slowly sat in the chair.
"Hard and fast" Codee said, obviously we weren't going to do that my Dad and I were going to do it nice and slow. 'WHAT" my brother didn't scream wow maybe he is strong.
So after all my brother is a man I can't believe it. But he done it for a good cause which is to raise money for the cancer society. And anyone who red my last post I couldn't put my Mum and my Brother's video on sorry but hopefully I could post some more stories on my blog.

Ice challenge
Some people might give money to charities, but you never know there's always a better way and a funnier way to fundraise money its called the Ice challenge, the Ice challenge helps fundraise money to the charity of cancer, the Ice challenge is when a person nominates a family member or a friend to do the challenge, and what they do is they put there feet in cold water filled with ice, then they introduce them self and say who nominated them and then nominate five others2, and last but not least once you are ready you get tip over the head with cold icy water. Once you have accomplished that there is a task where you have to drink some sort of liquid like juice, fizzy,or alcohol.
"YESSS" I exclaimed with excitement my Mum and Dad had been nominated by my Aunty and Uncle. I don't mean to be mean but my Mum's video is the worst I've actually seen if you haven't seen the video I may be able to post it on my blog in my next post. Anyway back to the story my Mum was screaming like there was no tomorrow. I am sorry to all the neighbours that had to hear my Mum scream, but my Dad made it look easy.
Overall I think this challenge was made for a good cause, And plus my Mum nominated my Brother and trust me he will scream like a little girl which way worse than my Mum's video. Sorry everyone knows my Dad and I would love to show you all his video except there is two problem's the first one is it's not funny becaus e he is not screaming and the second one is the in appropriate language.

My little adventure.
As the sun shone through the clouds rain slowly trickled down my face. And the deep blue sea rolled around like a snake slithering through the grass. I stood in front of my aunties old cottage, and by that old cottage was a mountain that dominated (overlooked) any other mountains in the valley. I had always wished I could climb that mountain. But my cranky aunt declares that I do not go she says there are things I cannot handle. But c'mon I am 11 so technically I am a teenager.
"HEY SOY GET INSIDE YOUR GOING TO GET A COLD" roared my cranky aunt, I don't know why but she always got my name wrong even though it's Troy she always forgets the first letter so she replace's it with different letters of the alphabet and the most common one is Soy, is it from soy milk I don't know I guess it a mystery that I will never find out. The water dropped of my head and into my shoes, I knew I was going to get in trouble. I crept inside hoping no one heard the squeaking of my shoes, but in the distance I heard sobbing it was like the sound of a whale that had beached itself. I slowly pushed the door opened but no one was there just a fire that burnt furiously. I searched the room but the crying slowly faded until you couldn't hear it, curios I followed my instinct and went back outside. The sobbing grew louder, and louder, and louder, and louder until my ears could not take it anymore.
Could it be the sound was coming from the top of the mountain. This was my one chance to get to the mountain with an excuse if I got caught." I was thinking I should start my adventure now but it was to late and to dark. BUR BUR BUR BUR BUR BURRRRR " What I'm up" I was drowsy and dizzy, I wonder if what happened yesterday was a dream? most probably not. I had quickly got changed and began my adventure. I kept positive and repeated in my head myself that I am almost there, and actually I was almost there. A COUPLE OF HOURS LATER "I am here" "I finally did it" I ran to the bottom of the hill and started to climb. WILL I MAKE IT TO THE TOP NO KNOWS MY FATE.....TO BE CONTINUED.....................

We are Hero's
Once upon a time in a far enchanted forest, that no living object or human being had ever explored, lived 12 boys that never knew what they were capable of. Sadly seven of them died but no one knew what happened that fatal night. Were they murdered? no one knows the horror that those boys had witnessed but when Collin walked past the crime scene he only saw 5 brothers no one else had seen the missing brother or did he escape.
The four brothers Stevenson, Collin, Louis and Zane were training, Stevenson caught eye of something bizarre. It was their enemy the mighty TAIDAN! “Attack,” Collin ,our warchief, demanded us. “Ohhh No!!!” Taidan’s army has arrived.
After we had survived we saw Taidan escape into the Forest. Collin found that he saw a scar that said number 9 on it. “Could it be” exclaimed Stevenson, “but why would he kill our brothers for” sadly asked Zane “because he could not control his powers the only reason he went evil was because he couldn’t control himself the darkside consumed him” so that only leaves one thing he was the person that killed the five boys.
Walking through the park trying to clear our heads we could see a swift movement in the trees. When we were attacked by some maniacs that looked like us and when they attack they always lose. So when we thought we could beat them we had another thing coming. This time they were stronger, bigger, and more powerful the last time we saw them they were nowhere near the size and strength they were powerful. The bad thing is that they look as powerful as us they must’ve taken number 1 one of our brothers that were in the accident. We could see that they had the same powers and they all looked like our brothers that died. And then it hit Louis it is like the same with Taiden they must be number 2379 and 10 they all looked like it. Now the choice was to either fight their brothers or run ............

My horror story
Yelling & screaming rattled through my ears. The smell of burning rubber filled my nose.Destruction and terror invaded the city. People running for their lives. I was in the year of the robot invasion. They were fierce. Dont try to run they will catch you. I could not help but notice a figure running towards me. it was a robot and it was red and radiant. It captured my eye the robot was sprinting towards me. I couldn’t move I was hypnotized by the blood lust of the giant beast. It was his eyes. His red eyes caught my attention I was paralyzed. He sprinted towards me. I had no fear I was not frightened by this humongous beast.
The robot stopped he was attacked by a unfamiliar specie. I knew this because my father was a vet well before he died. He could recognize any scar by any animal and was able to teach me.Unfortunately this was a mystery??? The robot slowly crept towards me. But then and there right at that moment a gun was fired in the distance and the fierce Titan sprinted away.
Trotting down the road I found a abandoned house “It must of been a nice house well before the invasion” ,the house had luxurious french gates that swung right open and attached to it was a doorbell.”RRRRRRRRRRR” A growl came from inside the house the only way that i was going to recognize what was in the house was to ring the bell. The bell roared like a lion through the house. Then all went quiet and then suddenly a robot jumped through the window. The best chased me. Will I EVER ESCAPE THIS NIGHTMARE TO BE CONTINUED..........
