- Sustainability means the endurance of systems and processes. The organising principle for sustainability is sustainable development. Our extension group also looked at a picture which was a stool. The meaning of this picture was what held up sustainability which were economy, society, and the environment. Since the extension group were learning about sustainability we were given the opportunity to watch movies from the site outlook for someday. I was able to watch a variety of movies but the one that really stood out for me was If life was like the web by Angus Slade. I really enjoyed this movie because it has humour and there is a good lesson behind it. The problem was people were using social media to interact instead of talking in person and that some things should stay on the internet. The solution was if you don not have anything to say to their faces don't say anything at all.

Hokulea
Food glorious food. Isn't gnawing on a chicken bone WONDERFUL!!! Well have ever thought of this, Chicken bones could be used to find out what year the Polynesians travelled to South America.
Scientists have always wondered whether the South Americans traveled to Polynesia or was it the other way round. To find this out they would need specific detail. And some people may not believe me I say this but to find out this they use chicken bones. Radiocarbon dating of the chicken bones were pre columbian

Being fit
Did you know your body is an amazing machine? It just needs to be used everyday to keep it working well.
Exercise keeps your body strong and fit. Fitness means having the energy to work, play, and do all the things you want to do easily. Your body can not store fitness,so you need to exercise regularly to stay fit.
Exercise makes you feel and look better. It keeps your body a healthy weight, it helps you relax, and sleep better. And when you exercise your body produces chemicals called endorphins, which go to your brain and make you feel good.
Exercise for strength makes your muscles stronger. So you can work different parts of your body, with out feeling weak. Exercise for stamina makes your heart and lungs stronger, and helps blood flow easily around your body. Stamina is the ability to exercise for longer without getting tired or out of breath.
So you need to move it!

My explanation writing capitals
Do you know what capitals are? Well capitals are upper case letters, which mean they are bigger than regular letters. Capital letters are different to normal letters because capital letters are different shaped. Isn't that a bit weird. Couldn't they be the same shape as lower case letters, for example: qQ. these two Q’s are very different.
Capitals are used in many ways. They are used for naming geographical places, geographical places are either places in the world or places of cities in a country. For example I live in Auckland, New Zealand
In year 2 they would have told you that the only place you could put a capital letter was at the beginning of the sentence and after a full stop. But thats not all you also put a capital letter after a exclamation mark, a question mark, and when a new character speaks. For example: “I would like some crab sticks” “I am so sorry we are out of crab sticks.
Not only do you use capitals after exclamation and question marks. You can use them for titles. Even Aucklands most prized possessions or icons start with capital letters. For example: The Sky Tower has a wonderful view.
There's one occasion that you could use it which is for dates. That means you could use it for the months of the years or the days of the week. For example: Today is Wednesday of October.
As you can see capitals are quite vital. You would need to use them the right way. The reason is because your audience needs to understand your message, and understands what you are saying.

Bad ending
Fog covered the grass like a thick blanket. And owls hoot like an annoying alarm clock. Their it was a abandoned house, I have heard many stories about this house. People say there's still someone living in that house. But how could you the wood of this darked coloured house was part gone and this house was unstable. But there's only one way to find out which is go in.My name is Zak Hemmingwell and this is an adventure of mine.
But I wasn't going alone I had to take a right hand man and his name is Franklin wart himmer . Although his last name may sound disgusting he is good at bumping off, and when I say that I really mean it because when he runs he is like an unstoppable force. But there's a downside he does seem to weigh about 200 kgs. And no offense but he may break the house.
But I had no other choice it was either him or Michael Harrow. And trust me when I say this he is a nightmare, because he picks his nose, he smells like feet, and he goes unconscious when he is scared. Wait that could be better than crushing the house down I guess.
Maybe you could help me pick either Michael or Franklin. Please help me decide. Maybe you could vote. If you vote Franklin comment in the comment box and comment the number 1357,or if you decide Michael vote the number 2468.
For the viewers that had red this story this is not the finished product. This is a quick story that I have whipped up. There will be a second copy which will be even better. And if you do like this story make sure to make a comment and maybe I could make a series of Zak's adventures. Thank you for reading.

Can You be a Future focused learner Newspaper article.
W.A.L.T: Use the structure of newspaper articles to write news reports
Can you Be Future focused learner?
Louis
Point England
Last Friday Mr.Burt the Point England principal asked if his students could be future focused learners, and the response was, “Yes.”
Para:1 What a Future focused learner is
Some people may be asking what is a future focused learner well some things that Mr. Burt thinks, that a future focused learner is that you are able to be a person who is preparing themselves for an exciting world, and that you are a person who takes the opportunities given to them.
Para 2: How you can become a future focused learner
If you become a future focused learner it could impact your future that is why I am asking a teacher Mrs.Nua, the head of the senior school thinks,“ You can become a future focussed learner by managing yourself well in the class and completing tasks to the highest standard that you are capable of.” For kids this mean’s if you do not manage yourself properly and spent your time looking after someone else your not going to go anywhere.
Para 3: What they can accomplish
A future focused learner can accomplish many things. But one of the key focuses are to concentrate, and be determined. Mrs. Nua also said “ I think a future focussed learner can accomplish anything that they put their mind to, this may mean that they need to communicate with the right people to help them to make things happen.”
Para 4: The next Korero
The next step is that Mr.Burt has to come up with a new korero. This leaves the Point England children wandering what the next one will be.

Storyline Festival
Some people may different opinions of who their favourite authors are. Well the reason I am saying this is because the Extension group had the opportunity to visit the Vodafone event centre, and were able meet some authors such as Catherine Mayo, Jill Macgregor, Paula Green, and Juliette Mclver. We got to meet them at the Storyline's festival.
My favourite author had to be Catherine Mayo. Because she clearly explained what her books were about, she also used the projector which was a relief, and that her book interested me, especially the book that she wrote the Bow. This book was based on ancient Greece.
If were to present one of my Book's the resource that could help understand the book would the Projector because it would make your message clear and also would pass on the experience that you had.
One other author that I would have preferred to listen to was..... Paula Green. I think this because she was enthusiastic when she presented. One other reason that I liked Paula Green was because she asked the crowd to join in with the experience.

Newspaper article about the new uniform.
WALT: use the structure of newspaper articles to write my own article.
What’s cool at Pt England school?
Pt England - Louis
The Point England senior school, are not just cutting edge with their work, they are also leading fashion with their jackets.
The intermediate kids sport black zipper jackets with a read line that runs across the sleeves which also the school logo embossed on the jacket. But the seniors also have an optional choice which is whether they want to wear a hat.
The seniors at Pt England school think that there uniform is amazing. Ms Flavell the clothing administrator says “It just so that you can distinguish the senior children from everybody else.”
But all this may seem exciting but also expensive. The jackets are expensive they are $55, and some girls may have trouble buying their jackets because they also pay for there culottes which are $56 and $10 extra dollars for their hats which comes to a total $121 . But on the other hand boys only pay $65 for the jacket and there hats.

Commonwealth games research and questions
What is Commonwealth? :
Commonwealth is when countries that were ruled by Britain came together and agreed that there will be peace, that people will treat each other fairly, and they also agreed to make the Queen a symbol of the Commonwealth. Some countries are not in the Commonwealth because they were not looked after or ruled by Britain, or one other reason is because they were suspended which also means if one country broke the agreement they would be suspended, they would call this a dissolved members.
What countries are apart of this? :
many countries are in the Commonwealth like Africa, Asia,Caribbean, Europe, and Oceania.
Where in the world are these countries? :
Well you could find the Caribbean in the region off the gulf of Mexico.
or Oceania is located in the region made up of 1000 countries including Australia.
Also Europe would be located in Northern hemisphere.
Asia could be found in and around China.
or Oceania is located in the region made up of 1000 countries including Australia.

What do these countries have in Common?
I think the one thing these countries have in common is they all volunteered to be apart of the Commonwealth republic.
6 Interesting facts:
Over half of the people that live in the Commonwealth is under 25 years of age, and that is because Africa is full of people that are under 25 years of age.
Some people may refer the Commonwealth games the “friendly games” that is because the competition is about the individual men and women and not about what countries they are from.
The first games were held in 1930 in Hamilton,Canada which is 84 years ago.
Over 30% of the world’s population live in the Commonwealth thats over 2 billion adults and children.
The secretary of the Commonwealth games Kamalesh sharma, having previously served as the High commissioner for India in London.
Did you know the 1942 and the 1946 Commonwealth games had been canceled due to world war II
